George Hummel, a biker from Delaware, Ohio, had this to say about the ordinances imposed by the Myrtle Beach city council designed to stop the local motorcycle rallies in Myrtle Beach.
”This is the ninth year I’ve come to the rally and we ain’t coming back if Myrtle Beach don’t stop (messing) with us. Hummel fashioned his gladiator style helmet out of hand worked stainless steel. “I’m sure in Myrtle Beach I’d get a citation for this even though I was still wearing a helmet.”
Thursday evening during the fall bike rally The Pilgrimage, I stopped by a local biker bar called Suck Bang Blow in Murrells Inlet, S.C., and did these biker portraits for a Sunday news story. Todd Price, the bar’s owner, gave me space to set-up my lights and I then recruited bikers to help hold lights and direct traffic. I had a great time and it was a nice change of pace in our coverage of the rally.
Last month, during heated debates, the city of Myrtle Beach passed 15 new ordinances to curtail the rallies from coming to town.
Then on Friday, I covered this roadblock by the Myrtle Beach police to enforce the new ordinances. I felt I was in another country during the evening and my heart went out to the bikers who were in town just to have a little fun.

Okay, I haven’t posted for a while and like everyone else I’m worried the world is falling apart financially. With this, my energies have been elsewhere other than my blog. Working for a newspaper these days has it drawbacks and worries. Luckily like Napoleon Dynamite, I have skills.
